Hyper Pigmentation/Melasma Treatment In Milton Keynes

What is Hyperpigmentation?

Hyperpigmentation is a broad term that refers to a very common skin issue: discoloration. Usually, this manifests in the form of dark spots or patches, but hyperpigmentation can take on many different and equally frustrating forms.

If you're noticing newly formed dark spots or hyperpigmentation is something that you've always been prone to, you're far from alone.

  1. Age spots: A common sign of skin aging, this form of hyperpigmentation is caused by overexposure to UV rays (i.e. sun damage). Areas that are the most prone to developing age spots are those that are exposed to the sun most frequently, such as the face, neck, forearms, and hands.
  2. Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation: This is the term for the skin discoloration that lingers after certain skin trauma, such as acne, eczema, a rash, or a cut.
  3. Melasma: This is a form of hyperpigmentation that’s more common in women and believed to have hormonal ties. It manifests as patches of discoloration usually on the cheeks, the bridge of the nose, the forehead, the chin, and above the upper lip. It is commonly triggered by the hormonal changes associated with pregnancy.
  4. Freckles: They’re linked to genetics, but they may become darker and more visible with UV exposure.

What is Melasma?

Melasma is a common skin condition in which the body overproduces melanin, creating dark brown patches of pigment — typically on the face, forehead, upper cheeks, and around the mouth. This discoloration is also known as hyperpigmentation. Remember: All melasma is hyperpigmentation, but not all hyperpigmentation is melasma.

Melasma can be triggered by a number of external factors like sun exposure, heat, or skin trauma. It can even be genetic. But the real culprits here are hormones. Melasma mostly affects women — and is sometimes referred to as “the mask of pregnancy,” as it frequently appears during pregnancy due to the vast hormonal changes. It can also be triggered by birth control or hormonal therapies.

What is Newmelan PRO Peel ?

NEWMELAN PRO by Dr. Eduardo Krulig, is a perfect professional Depigmenting care and powerful combination of anti-inflammatory, depigmenting actives, with potent antioxidant activity.

A Newmelan PRO peel is a facial skin peel treatment designed to improve stubborn hormonal based pigmentation conditions such as melasma, chloasma and lentigo.

It can also be effective in reducing the signs of photo-damage on the skin, regulating oil secretion, reducing pore size and helping to prevent breakouts. It also improves the overall luminosity, glow and tone of the skin.

The peel itself contains a variety of active ingredients such as Citric Acid, Kojic Acid, Phytic Acid, Ascorbic Acid, Azelaic acid, and Ubiquinone. These agents block the production of melanin by irreversibly inhibiting tyrosinase which is an enzyme involved mainly in melanin synthesis to help reduce pigmentation formation.

This process does not make the melanocytes disappear, but simply paralyzes or stops melanin production, without risk of white blemishes appearing, thus, improving the complexion of the skin long term

Shujo Aesthetic Clinic considers individuals fit for the procedure if all of the following are true of them:

  • Pigmentation issues, e.g. melasma, chloasma
  • Uneven, blotchy or patchy skin
  • Sun damage
  • Enlarged pores
  • Dull, unhealthy skin
