What Is Microneedling?

Microneedling (also known as skin needling or collagen induction therapy) is a type of treatment that uses small needles to cause tiny punctures in the skin. These small contact points encourage the body to create a wound healing response and renew the skin cells. As your skin repairs, the production of collagen and elastin is triggered to give an almost immediate plumping effect. It can also help tackle other skin damage such as scarring, dark marks, sun damage and ageing.

Our microneedling team in Milton Keynes can help you and give you advice on this treatment.

Radio Frequency (RF) Microneedling

The addition of Radiofrequency energy to this procedure helps to further stimulate the body’s natural collagen and healing processes revealing firmer, rejuvenated skin.

How does (RF) microneedling work?

The RF energy heats the underlying layers of skin, causing constriction and tightening of the skin, as well as the stimulation of collagen and elastin production. Because the RF energy is delivered so deeply, it can produce faster results that are more dramatic.

RF microneedling uses a gold-plated needle device that gently penetrates the skin to deliver radiofrequency deep into the dermal layers of the skin. The radio frequency heats at depths that provide cumulative and ongoing benefits of collagen stimulation, skin tightening and resurfacing.

What does it help with?

A needling device is used to penetrate the skin. This will create thousands of micro wounds. Your body responds to the wounds by producing significant amount of collagen and elastin fibers. As a result, this will rejuvenate your face by filling in wrinkles and scars.

Microneedling is proven to improve the following conditions: mild to moderate acne scars, fine lines, deep wrinkles, sagging skin, rough skin texture, pore size, sun damage, and stretch marks.

You will experience some redness and mild swelling for 2 to 4 days. You may even notice a slight bruising or several tiny blood spots, but they will disappear in 24 to 48 hours. Your skin will become smoother and radiant in a week.

The treatment includes cleaning and numbing the skin. A derma stamp pen or derma roller with microneedles is used to produce thousands of micro punctures in the skin. Vitamin-C serum or Hyaluronic acid are applied after the treatment to enhance skin renewal and collagen growth.

This treatment has very low downtime. Skin redness and inflammation are very common. They will disappear within 24 hours. Your skin may become slightly pink for 2 to 4 days depending on the severity of the treatment.
