Who This Is For
This is an advanced-level masterclass. It is designed for practitioners who already operate at a high clinical standard and are ready to integrate advanced scar management and subcision techniques into their practice.
Applications will be reviewed before a place is confirmed. If you are unsure whether your background meets the criteria, please reach out before applying.
Please Note
This course is not suitable for practitioners new to aesthetics. A solid foundation in consultation, documentation and device-based treatments is required before attending.
What You Will Learn
Precise identification and classification of ice-pick, boxcar, and rolling/tethered scars — with a structured framework for selecting the right treatment ladder for each scar type and patient profile.
How to build a complete 12-week scar treatment programme with clear milestones, patient communication checkpoints, and objective assessment intervals to track and evidence outcomes.
Strategic sequencing of RF microneedling, peel ladder steps and PRP support within a scar programme — timing, intervals, and how each modality supports the others for compounding results.
Full clinical coverage of subcision: indications, contraindications, risks, technique considerations and aftercare protocols — including how to counsel patients on realistic expectations and recovery.
The Shujo "Release + Rebuild" concept: combining subcision with polynucleotide and/or biostimulator support where clinically appropriate — rationale, selection criteria and integration into the wider programme.
Mastery of post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation prevention during scar procedures in melanin-rich and pigmentation-prone skin — where standard scar protocols require the most careful, informed adaptation.
Signature Protocol
The Release + Rebuild framework is the clinical concept at the centre of this masterclass. It brings together subcision and biostimulator or polynucleotide support into a sequenced, evidence-informed protocol — designed for practitioners who want to offer a more complete answer to tethered and atrophic acne scarring.
Assess & Classify
Full scar typing, skin assessment and programme eligibility — including PIH risk stratification for skin of colour.
Release
Subcision to disrupt tethered fibrous bands — with clear indications, technique selection and contraindication review.
Support & Rebuild
Polynucleotide or biostimulator support introduced at the appropriate interval to promote matrix remodelling and volume restoration.
Layer & Refine
Integration of RF microneedling, peels and PRP across the 12-week programme to compound results and address surface texture.
"Subcision alone releases the scar. What you put in after — and when — determines whether the result lasts."
Esther Emenike-Okorie · Founder, Shujo AestheticsSpecialist Focus
A dedicated component of this masterclass is PIH prevention during scar procedures in melanin-rich and pigmentation-prone skin. This is where most standard scar protocols fall short — and where the clinical cost of getting it wrong is highest. You will leave with a framework to safely sequence scar treatment in these patients without triggering or worsening pigmentation.
